1. General Information

AI Markdown Editor is an application for iPhone and iPad that allows users to create, edit, and manage Markdown documents.

The app processes content locally on your device by default.

The provider does not operate any servers for storing or processing your documents.

2. Data Processing

The app does not automatically or systematically process personal data.

In particular, the following are not used:

• Tracking IDs
• Analytics services
• Advertising networks
• User profiling
• Telemetry data

Only content that you create, enter, or import is processed.

Such content may contain personal data if you choose to include personal information in your documents.

You are solely responsible for the content of your documents.

3. Data Storage

3.1 Local Storage

Documents, versions, settings, and configurations are stored locally within your device’s protected app container.

The provider has no access to this content.

3.2 Optional iCloud Synchronization

If you enable iCloud synchronization, your documents and related metadata are stored in Apple iCloud and synchronized across your devices.

4. Recipients of Data

Without the use of optional features, no content is transferred to third parties.

If iCloud synchronization is enabled, data is transferred to Apple Inc.

When optional AI features are used, the content you select is transmitted to the AI provider you have chosen.

5. Optional AI Features

The app provides optional features for translation, text processing, analysis, and content generation through external AI services.

The use of these features is entirely voluntary.

The core functionality of the app remains fully available without any AI services.

5.1 Types of Data Transmitted

When using an AI feature, only the following data is transmitted:

• The prompt entered by you
• The text content explicitly selected by you
• The document sections explicitly selected by you

No additional personal data, documents, background data, device information, or system information is transmitted.

Before using an AI service for the first time, you must provide explicit consent.

Before each transmission, a dialog is displayed showing:

• Which AI provider will be used
• Which data will be transmitted
• The purpose of the processing
• A link to the provider’s privacy policy

Data is transmitted only after your explicit confirmation and solely as a result of an action initiated by you.

Examples include:

• Sending a prompt
• Translating text
• Executing an AI template

No automatic background transmission takes place.

Consent can be withdrawn at any time in the app settings.

Consent is also automatically revoked if the API key for the corresponding AI service is removed.

5.2 AI Features Are Disabled by Default

AI integration is disabled by default.

Data can only be transmitted if:

• An AI provider has been explicitly enabled
• Your own API key has been configured
• Content has been explicitly selected
• An AI action has been manually initiated

Without enabling these features, no communication with AI services takes place.

5.3 Supported Providers

Depending on your selection, data may be transmitted to the following providers:

• OpenAI, L.L.C., USA
• Anthropic PBC (Claude), USA
• Google LLC (Gemini), USA
• Perplexity AI, USA
• xAI Corp. (Grok), USA
• DeepL SE, Cologne, Germany

These providers process transmitted content independently and in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

Some of these providers are located outside the European Union, particularly in the United States.

As a result, selected content may be transferred to a third country.

5.4 API Keys

To use AI services, you must provide your own API key.

This key is stored locally on your device and is used solely for authentication with the selected provider.

The provider of this app has no access to your API key.

5.5 No Server-Side Processing

The provider does not operate any servers for processing or storing your content.

Communication with AI providers takes place directly between your device and the selected provider.

6. Data Security

The app utilizes the security mechanisms provided by iOS and iPadOS, including:

• App Sandbox
• Protected local data storage
• Apple Keychain for security-related information
• Encrypted network connections
• Encrypted iCloud data transfer
• Privacy and security mechanisms provided by Apple

The provider has no access to locally stored content.

7. Legal Basis for Processing

Where personal data is involved, processing is carried out on the basis of:

• Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract)
• Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests)
• Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent), when using external AI services

8. Data Retention

Documents are stored for as long as you keep them within the app.

You may delete content at any time.

You may disable iCloud synchronization at any time.

When the app is uninstalled, locally stored data is removed according to the mechanisms provided by iOS and iPadOS.

Content previously stored in iCloud may remain in your iCloud account until you delete it there.

9. Your Rights

You have the following rights in particular:

• Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
• Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
• Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
• Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
• Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)
• Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
• Right to withdraw consent with effect for the future

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority.
